Knit Me Quick

BY FIONA GOBLE

Hello fellow knitters…

Knitting writer

It’s Fiona Goble here. You might know me from some of the knitting books I’ve written, like “Knitivity,” “Knitted Animal Hats,” and “Knit Your Own Royal Wedding.”

I’ve written over 20 books, in total.

Improve your knitting quickly!

I’m writing this blog because lots of you want to get better at knitting as quickly as you can. And I know everyone’s pressed for time these days. Even if you’re already pretty good at knitting, I want to share some fast projects you can either give away or keep for yourself. They’re perfect for fitting in between those larger, more complicated pieces.

My first knitting project

My aunt Sheelagh got me into knitting when I was about seven, just before she moved from the UK to Canada. My very first attempt was a yellow dishcloth that ended up looking a bit worse for wear by the time I finished. But luckily, I’ve got a lot better since those days, even if I do say so myself.

Why I write my own patterns

I started creating my own patterns 15 or so years ago, because I could never find exactly what I wanted to knit. I guess I’ve always been a bit picky. I especially love making small things because they’re quick to finish. It could be I’m addicted to that nice feeling of instant gratification.

Where I hang out

I live in the UK, just outside of London, with my husband who’s a retired gardener. He’s now busy sorting out our own garden – something he never had time to do while working.
